Please join us to honor Juneteenth with Dr. Stacey Close!

The Windham-Willimantic NAACP Chapter and the Willimantic Public Library invites you to attend Dr. Stacey Close’s virtual presentation Juneteenth: A Lesson in American History.

Dr. Stacey Close has worked in higher education for more than 20 years.  He currently serves as the Associate Vice President for Equity and Diversity at Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, Connecticut.  Also a professor of history, Close received his PhD. and M.A. from Ohio State University and B.A. from Albany State College, an HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) in Georgia.  He has taught courses that focused on African American, American, African, and Southern history. He has received several awards from the NAACP including 100 Most Influential Blacks in Connecticut and the President’s Award from the Windham-Willimantic Branch of the NAACP in 2019.
