Not in my Backyard: the Quest for Environmental Justice in CT

The Slaves in our Backyard Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 2 pm via Zoom. Learn about the role Windham County played in the institution of slavery. Historians Jamie Eves and Donna Dufresne give witness to local enslaved Africans and the money trail that brought them here. Donna will introduce some of the enslaved people in Woodstock and Pomfret in The Slaves in Our Backyard Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 2pm via Zoom the 18th century. Jamie will follow the legacy of slavery in Windham during the 19th century, highlighting free Blacks who fought marginalization and racism, and built their economic communities.
